'L'ultimo Capitolo' is an Alternate Reality Game (ARG), an interactive networked narrative that uses the
real world as a platform and employs transmedia storytelling to deliver a story that can be altered by
players' ideas or actions. In this participatory experience, by utilizing a multi-platform approach, the
narrative unfolds through Instagram, Telegram, and an enigmatic website called the "Libro delle
Femmine".
Challenge
Developing this ARG presented several key challenges. The first was integrating a cohesive narrative
with interactive elements across multiple platforms, including real-world interactions, which required a
balance between storytelling and technological innovation. Another challenge was ensuring the puzzles
were engaging yet accessible to a diverse audience, aiming to stimulate collaboration and critical
thinking without causing frustration.
Coordinating real-time challenges with real-world actions added a layer of complexity, demanding careful
planning to maintain immersion. Additionally, tackling sensitive themes like extremism and justice in
the narrative required thoughtful deliberation to provoke reflection while responsibly addressing these
serious issues. Despite these obstacles, our team's innovative approach turned these challenges into
opportunities, resulting in an immersive, thought-provoking ARG that encouraged critical reflection on
societal issues.
My Role
My responsibility was mainly related to the development of the enigmatic website:"Libro delle Femmine.“
I focused on UX design to create an intuitive experience, handled the frontend development to build the
site's interactive elements, and utilized Klynt for seamless transmedia storytelling integration.
